Telerex helps Novuqare with Pouch Matic development

Novuqare develops and assembles products for the medical and mechatronic markets, both under contract and under its own brand. "All the products we make are intended for hospital, pharmaceutical, or lab environments and must meet the highest quality requirements and standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 for medical products," says Floris Akkerman, Operations Manager at Novuqare.

Reliable Sealing

Another important product line of Novuqare is the SealMate. The rotary sealers in this range are used, for example, by pharmaceutical companies and central sterile services departments (CSSDs) of hospitals responsible for sterile packaging of medical equipment and consumables.

"Something that is not sterile is packaged and then sterilized in an autoclave," Akkerman explains. "For a good seal, it is important that the sealing process is calibrated and validated on the parameters of speed, temperature, and pressure. If the temperature in the sealer needs to be 180 degrees, there should be no deviation. You also need to be able to measure the pressure with which a seal is made accurately."

With the SealMate, it is still necessary to cut the bags to size beforehand. "The new PouchMatic cuts the bags itself from a roll of pouch material and then makes the seal," Akkerman explains. "This saves a lot of time during the sterilization process. You set how many bags you want, in what size, and what the temperature should be via the touchscreen."
